Jileke Love
I based a character from a book I illustrated: "Everything Pink, I Think" on Imke. She was so happy to be the main character, and she gave me a gift of a pink frame which she decorated.
I made a cross stitch to go with the frame of the little flying creature, the robin, some sea-stars, and the flower, who are all in this book too.

The Spirit of the Tree
But one day it was decided that the tree had to be cut down. It was a sad day for everyone who enjoyed the tree.
My Mother requested that I make a stitched portrait of the birch tree to give to her neighbors. I put their children, Yente and Binck playing happily next to the tree, and the familiar blackbirds perched on its branches.
Here is her neighbor Sophia with her stitched tree picture, "The Spirit of the Tree"

Computer Memory
I made this during a time when my computer's memory was being operated on. Poor Eyreequel (my computer) kept freaking out, so we had to add a new brain. He was out of commission for a few days, so I cross stitched a portrait of him and his memory.
